Like every other young woman in her 20s during the pandemic, Melanie reignited an old, fervent passion for plants. She started off nurturing an orchid, then bought her childhood dream plant: a baby Venus flytrap! Mel soon graduated to propagating succulents and monstera leaves, caring for a maidenhair fern, and getting more orchids and more carnivorous plants. She even experimentally planted seeds from a store-bought habanero pepper (they sprouted)! 

Her next steps are to plant a store-bought pineapple so that she has a fully grown pineapple in ~5 years, and she hopes to try grafting fruit trees someday when she has her own backyard.
